Geckos
This is our Under 2yrs room. We are licensed for up to 19 tamariki in this area. The area has it's own playground, non-movers area, sleep room and climbing area inside. Although it's and under two room, we evaluate each child & their needs with the goal of transitioning them at the appropriate time.
Tuataras
For tamariki from 2yrs to 4 ½ yrs. This is our main area with lots of activity. It leads out to a large playground, sandpit, garden's, and "The Wilderness".
Chameleons
This area is for those tamariki about to transition off to school. It is a space for them to spend more time of extended activities and become more confident with their impending move to school.
Whakawhiti celebration
When a child transitions within the centre, we celebrate with a Whakawhiti. This involves the tamariki & whanau being passed onto their new Kaiako & friends. This creates a further sense of belonging within the centre.
EDUCA
This is the website we use to record the curriculum & learning aspects for our tamariki whilst at Whitby Educare. It is an electronic platform Kaiako & whanau use to share their experiences & knowledge. Every tamariki has a profile that is password protected accessible by whanau.
